Apple Power Macintosh PowerMac 8500/120 120MHz PowerPC 604 ?MB RAM NO HD PARTS!

Up for sale is an old Apple Power Macintosh 8500/120 from 1995. We were unable to get this old Macintosh to boot – it would only display an icon of a floppy diskette with a flashing question mark. We tried to boot from the CD-ROM by holding the ‘c’ key down when booting, but were only able to get back to the flashing question mark. When we tried to boot from a floppy, the drive would only spit the diskette back out at us again. All of the others of these we have sold needed BIOS batteries, so we would expect this this one will also need a BIOS battery. The plastic on the case is in VERY BRITTLE condition. The plastic which goes between the motherboard and the side of the case, one side of the clips which hold on the CD-ROM faceplate, and several of the clips which hold the front plastic panel to the metal side pieces broke when the case was removed to photograph it – so, it will either have to be replaced, possibly glued, or maybe someone can 3D print a new one? Anyway, it is pushing 30 years old and the plastic is brittle. The broken pieces of plastic are included with the computer. You only get the desktop PC and the broken plastic pieces – you will need to provide your own ADB keyboard, hard drive & caddy, and mouse as well as a monitor. This one came with a PCI fast ethernet card installed: Asante 10/100 as an upgrade from the 10MB onboard NIC. Apple’s support site says it will run all the way up to OS 9.

• One side of the clip which holds the CD-ROM faceplate on is broken – SEE PICTURES!
• The plastic cover that goes between the motherboard and side of the case is broken – SEE PICTURES!
• Several of the clips which hold the front plastic panel to the metal side panels are broken.
• NO HDD or CADDY!
• NO MONITOR
• NO MacOS DISC
• NO Power Cable – You will need to provide your own.
• NO Keyboard or Mouse – you will need to provide your own ADB keyboard & mouse
• It probably needs a BIOS battery.
• The case has scuffs / scratches / yellowing / other cosmetic defects – LOOK AT THE PICTURES!
• Other defects / problems not obvious??

You’re welcome to save on the shipping by making an appointment and stopping by to pick it up, or we make regular trips to Manassas, VA and Williamsburg, VA (2-3 times per month) and can bring it along for you to pick up there.

  A note on the brittle plastic: Even though we hired the local UPS store to properly package it, the last one of these we sold arrived with lots of broken plastic. Please keep in mind that if you do not pick this up locally, then you run the risk of it arriving with more broken plastic DESPITE being PROPERLY PACKAGED!
