Item Overview
This archived listing documents an original Apple Power Macintosh 8500/120,
a mid‑1990s PowerPC‑based desktop Macintosh designed for expandability and performance.
This unit was evaluated and sold strictly as a vintage collectible intended for
parts, repair, restoration, or historical reference.
- Model: Power Macintosh 8500/120 (M3409)
- Manufactured: October 30, 1995
- Processor: PowerPC 604 @ 120 MHz
- Memory: Unknown
- Serial Number: XB5440KV3FS

Condition at Time of Sale
At the time of evaluation, the system powered on but did not successfully boot an operating system.
Observed behavior was consistent with missing storage media and potentially a depleted PRAM battery,
a common condition among Power Macintosh systems of this era.
- Displayed flashing floppy disk icon with question mark
- Holding the C key to force CD‑ROM boot returned to flashing question mark
- Floppy drive rejected disks shortly after insertion
- AppleCD 600i SCSI CD‑ROM drive was noisy and did not boot the system
- Hard drive and hard drive caddy were not present
- System date and time were likely incorrect, indicating a depleted PRAM battery
The enclosure exhibited severe age‑related deterioration.
The plastic was extremely brittle, and multiple plastic components broke during case removal for photography,
including clips securing the front panel, one side of the CD‑ROM faceplate clip,
and the plastic divider between the motherboard and side panel.
All broken plastic pieces were included with the unit.
This system included an aftermarket Asante PCI 10/100 Fast Ethernet card,
installed as an upgrade to the original 10 Mbps onboard networking.

- Not Included: Hard drive, hard drive caddy, monitor, keyboard, mouse,
power cable, Mac OS installation media
Archival & Collector Notes
This system was sold as‑is due to its age and condition.
Mid‑1990s Apple desktop plastics are known to be exceptionally brittle,
and previous examples of this model have suffered additional breakage during shipping
despite professional packing. Local pickup was recommended when feasible.
This archived listing is maintained for long‑tail search visibility and may be useful
to collectors, restorers, or researchers studying Power Macintosh 8500 troubleshooting behavior,
plastic failure patterns, or expansion card usage during the classic Mac OS era.
Apple documentation indicates that this model is capable of running later versions
of the classic Mac OS, up to Mac OS 9, when properly configured.
This archived listing is preserved for historical reference and collector research.
