Up for sale is an old Apple Power Macintosh 6500/250 from 1997. When we first powered on this old Mac, the hard drive was making some serious clicking, but after about 30-45 seconds, it stopped clicking and seemed to emit a normal level of noisiness. We booted from the MacOS CD (NOT INCLUDED) and were able to low level format the drive and perform a clean install of OS 8.1. Please keep in mind that the disk may be failing. This old desktop Mac has a clean install of MacOS 8.1 on its hard drive which leaves 15.5GB free space (not sure which size disk it has). The date and time were incorrect which indicates that it needs a BIOS battery. The plastic on the case is in brittle condition. Picking this up locally is the best way to insure that it does not arrive at your address with damage. You only get the desktop PC – you will need to provide your own ADB keyboard and mouse, power cable, as well as a monitor. We were able to boot it from the CD-ROM with a MacOS Install Disc, low level format the hard drive, and do a clean install of MacOS 8.1. The install CD is NOT INCLUDED. This has an old dial-up modem and no Ethernet – you might do better with a newer OS – Apple’s support site says it will run all the way up to OS 9. We also did not try to test the floppy drive – so this is an unknown for your to keep in mind when making your decision.

• Unknown capacity hard drive w/ OS 8.1 loaded – A bit Noisy, 15.5GB free space – disk was very noisy when it was first powered on, but later quieted down.
• Missing all four rubber feet on the bottom (SEE PICTURES)
• NO MONITOR
• NO MacOS DISC
• NO Power Cable – You will need to provide your own.
• NO Keyboard or Mouse – you will need to provide your own ADB keyboard & mouse
• Date / Time are incorrect – it needs a BIOS battery.
• The case has scuffs / scratches / yellowing / other cosmetic defects – LOOK AT THE PICTURES!
• Other defects / problems not obvious??

You’re welcome to save on the shipping by making an appointment and stopping by to pick it up, or we make regular trips to Culpeper, VA and the Richmond, VA area (2-3 times per month) and can bring it along for you to pick up there.

  A note on the brittle plastic: Even though we hired the local UPS store to properly package it, one of the old Macs of this vintage we have sold arrived with lots of broken plastic. Please keep in mind that if you do not pick this up locally, then you run the risk of it arriving with more broken plastic DESPITE being PROPERLY PACKAGED!
