HP LaserJet Pro M402n B/W Network USB Laser Printer for PARTS / REPAIR 2016

Up for sale is a used HP LaserJet Pro M402n laser printer with USB and wired network printing capability. We put this printer in service in November 2016 and it didn’t get much use for several years. Then, in fall of 2021 we moved it to a different desk and due to lots of envelopes being run, it developed a line on the pages caused by a worn spot on the fuser sleeve – the edge of the envelope gradually wore a line on the fuser sleeve. Included is a new fuser sleeve for it. We’ve had several of these printers develop this problem and we’ve tried to fix it by replacing the fuser sleeve (a job not for the faint of heart – there are youtube videos about it) installed it according to the directions and this fixed the line on the paper. However, the printer would then no longer fuse thicker paper correctly: envelopes, labels, checks, etc. The image will smear and wipe off some and sometimes it leaves black splotches. However, with the replacement fuser sleeves, it seems to run plain paper just fine – go figure. . .The only way we’ve been able to run thicker paper after repairing the defective fuser sleeve is by replacing the whole fuser – and we’re not interested in that much work and expense. Maybe you are?

So, we have now upgraded to a newer, faster printer and have this one with the extra fuser sleeve left over – the fuser sleeve comes with a daub of grease, FYI. This printer was mainly used with USB, but also supports wired networking. Hopefully someone out there can properly repair it and put it to use.
