Up for sale is an old HP LaserJet 4 parallel port laser printer with JetDirect network print card. This is based on the famous Canon EX engine which was used in lots of different printers from the early 1990’s. We used this printer for several years back in the 1990’s, but it has been sitting for the last 2 decades or so. So, it’s clean up time and we’re offering it on the internet in hopes that someone out there can refurbish it and put it use, or add it to their collection!
We connected this old printer to power and we were unable to get it to print a self-test page. It would jam every time in when the paper exits the fuser. The paper would also have trouble feeding and would jam in this position frequently. So, it likely AT LEAST needs a paper feed tire and a fuser service. Both rollers on the fuser are noticeably worn – SEE PICTURES! The print on the pages was also very dirty – SEE PICTURES! As we recall, the output rollers on these would frequently need replacing as well.
Other defects include – it is missing one of the feet on the bottom (SEE PICTURE), the plastic is yellowing from age, and the toner door’s right hinge has a bit of the plastic broken as well. LOOK AT THE PICTURES!
This printer is large, heavy, and a bit fragile (25+ year old plastic), so there is a $50 surcharge in the shipping to cover having the local UPS store professionally package it for shipment.
