Asus M2N68-AM SE2 uATX Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ CPU 4GB DDR2 RAM 2009

Up for sale is an Asus M2N68-AM SE2 Socket AM2+ uATX Motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ CPU AND 4GB RAM (2 x 2GB Modules). This motherboard was put into service in summer of 2009 and in November 2023 the system was upgraded to a newer, faster motherboard, processor, & RAM. So, we have this one left over. Hope someone out there on the internet can put it to use. This originally had Windows XP Home on it and had been upgraded to Windows 7 Home, then Windows 10 Home during the free upgrade period, so you might be able to activate Windows 10 Home on it without a product key, but NO PRODUCT KEY is included. The original product key from Windows XP Home is included, but we don’t have any product keys for either Windows 7 Home or Windows 10 Home. You will also need to provide your own install media. When we upgraded to Windows 10 in December 2015, we upgraded the system to an SSD (NOT included) and the included Syba PCIe SATA III controller card since the onboard SATA was only SATA II. However, after this upgrade and setting the system BIOS to boot from the Syba card, the system would not boot with a USB Hard Drive or Thumb Drive plugged into the motherboard – it would always try to boot from the USB device and not from the Syba, so we had to remember to unplug the USB external devices when rebooting the computer. The other upgrade we did in 2015 was the HD5450 video card as the onboard video did not have drivers for Windows 10 – this PCIe video card is included in the lot. Good luck!

This system was in good running condition, but had developed some quirks:

• It won’t boot from the internal SSD (NOT INCLUDED) running off of the Syba controller IF a USB drive is plugged into the computer.
• The CPU cooling fan is getting a bit loud and the next owner will need to plan on replacing it sometime soon.
• Sometimes the system will boot and say ‘found new CPU’ and then go ahead and boot – perhaps it needs a new BIOS battery – but it does seem to keep the current date and time
